Hackers are targeting your business right now

This is 100% true. Because they are targeting all businesses, all of the time.

Whereas once hacking was something done for the challenge and the bragging rights, these days it’s a form of organised crime.

Hackers use automated tools that are constantly looking for vulnerabilities they can exploit.

This is why it takes just one click on a dodgy email to let someone into your entire network.

To know what you’re up against, download our brand new guide: The 9 cyber threats you need to know about now.

We’re 39D Services, looking after businesses in Essex. And we’re on a mission to educate thousands more businesses around here about how to keep themselves safe from hackers.

Cyber crime is the fastest growing crime to affect businesses. When you see what you’re up against, you’ll be better prepared.

5 terrifying password stats – that prove your business is at risk

You probably know that cyber crime is a massive threat to businesses everywhere.

You probably also know that poor password practice is a major contributing factor in data breaches and hacking attacks…

… if not THE major contributing factor.

If you’ve already got your password procedures sorted and you’re confident you’re doing everything possible to keep your business safe, that’s great.

But if you’re among the thousands of Essex business owners and managers who keep winging it, now’s the time to change.

Because it only takes Dave in accounts to keep using the password “YourLocalFootballTeam123” (i.e. ManCity123) to put your business at a shockingly high level of risk.

We’ve written a brand new guide called “5 terrifying password stats that prove your business is at risk”.

11 scary signs your business has been hacked. Have you seen any?

We all get frustrated with slow laptops, or when computers start doing strange things. But here’s another way to look at it…

What if your laptop is being slow… just because it’s been hacked? And in the background it’s doing lots of things for the hackers (which is why it can’t do things for you).

A really slow computer is one of the 11 scary signs your business has been hacked. To find out what the other 10 are, just download our brand new guide instantly.

WhatsApp is not a secure way to run your business. Here’s a better way

Do your staff use WhatsApp, to discuss company business?

That might seem secure, but it means you’re not really in control of what data is where. How do you wipe company data from someone’s WhatsApp when they leave the business?

There is a better tool – and you probably already have it. Microsoft Teams is a real game changer, for helping your staff communicate and collaborate.

It’s included free in Office 365. And we’ve just written a brand new FREE guide to Microsoft Teams, to help you get the most out of it.

There’s so much you can do with the cloud… have you got it right for your business?

It’s no exaggeration to say that cloud computing has revolutionised the way people do business; so much so that 88% of UK organisations have now adopted it in some form.

And this is where the fun begins. Because there are an infinite number of ways to implement the cloud for your business.

Some businesses go all in, transferring everything to the cloud. Others stick with a hybrid solution; keeping the benefits of some on site servers and technology.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it; just what’s best for your specific business. It’s why you should always get an experienced, professional IT support company to pull together your technology strategy for you.

We’ve written this educational guide to explain the different options that are open to you. This guide might reinforce that your current set up is spot on. Or it might give you some powerful ideas to explore, to gain greater flexibility and productivity.

The 12 month countdown has begun… is your business protected from the 2020 problem?

It might have only just turned 2019. But we want you to look ahead to next January, in 2020.

Because there’s a major software problem on the way… and it’s going to affect half of all businesses and organisations in Essex.

In January 2020 Microsoft is ending the life of lots of old versions of popular software.

This includes the 2010 version of Office, some popular server software – and Windows 7.

If you have even one computer that runs any of this software, you’ve got a major headache from next January.

In fact, your business will be at severe risk of being hacked, as well as no longer being GDPR-compliant.

We’ve put together a brand new guide to help you see if your business will be affected – anyone can check, regardless of technical ability.

Plus we tell you why you mustn’t wait till next year to take action. This problem has to be tackled now.

Digitisation Of Data – Basic Advice For Reducing Risk

The increased digitisation of data offers many obvious benefits to a small business in terms of keeping track of all your valuable information. However it also brings with it a plethora of new risks and potential problems. These can be avoided or ameliorated by simple planning and thinking ahead (and having someone proficient and skilled in charge of your IT systems, of course!), so it’s handy to have a look at just what they might be so they can be tackled before they become a real issue. Remember, data is just as important to your business as profit is – losing your accounts can be as destructive as burning your money.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do in order to minimise further problems down the line is effective staff training. This can’t be overstated – if everyone knows what they are doing and what the procedures are, then the likelihood of problems drastically decreases. And that includes yourself, so make sure you’re completely up to speed on all your IT systems before you start teaching everyone else.

Having an off-site tech team is recommended, but even once you have one of those in place there are things you need to do yourself in order to make your life easier. Little things, the kind of things a lot of people tend to overlook – such as having strong passwords, for example. “1234” is a recipe for disaster, as are passwords anyone with a knowledge of you or your business would have a decent chance of guessing. Birthdays, children’s names – these are essentially an unlocked door. Use a combination of letters and numbers – preferably one that doesn’t actually mean anything in itself, to make it impossible to guess. And whatever you do don’t write them on Post-It notes stuck around the office!

Developing an IT strategy is also invaluable. Your IT support provider can help you with this, but it’s good for everyone in the business to know exactly what the procedures are, and that way a lot of problems can be headed off at the pass before you even need to call your off-site support.

As long as you keep ahead of things, and your systems are in good hands, then you’ll be amazed how many problems can be avoided entirely.
